Packing Your Hat When Traveling

Just about everyone loves to travel and take vacations. At the same time it can be kind of a stressful thing. There are so many things you must remember to pack. Suntan lotion, bathing suits, shorts, shirts, pants in case of bad weather, maybe a jacket, and the list goes on and on. If you are planning on going out while on vacation then you will need the proper attire. What if that attire includes a hat? How do you pack it so that it will not be ruined during your travels? Don’t flip out! There are a couple of different ways to handle this situation.
Most hats tend to be round and stiff in nature. For this reason there have been special hat boxes created to store and pack them away when not in use or for traveling. These boxes are often very simple cylindrical shaped cardboard boxes and have been covered with colored paper. If you have several hats of the same shape and size, you may be able to stack them on each other in one box. Be sure when packing a hat into a hat box that you support the headband by stuffing the crown of the hat with tissue paper or something that will approximate a head. This will prevent any distortion of the brim.
Now what if you don’t want to take all these extra hat boxes along with you in your travels? The crushable hat is perfect for you. Yes, I said crushable. There are now all kinds of hats being made as crushable. There are straw hats, fedoras, and even cowboy hats that are crushable. Crushable hats look good on you and they will last for a very long time. It’s sort of like owning a few pairs of good jeans in this aspect. Having crushable hats is important for men or women who travel a lot for business or for pleasure.
Crushable hats are called such because you can squish, crunch and jam these hats into your suitcase and they still hold their shape when pulled out. You can even step on them and not have to worry about ruining your hat the first week, or even the first day, of owning it. If you consistently travel for work or pleasure, tend to abuse your wardrobe, or seem to be “living out of your suitcase”, a crushable hat is the way for you to go.
Of course there is one more thing to keep in mind. Avoid packing your hat at all. You could pick a hat that looks good with virtually any outfit and just wear it on your trip. This will save you time, energy and possibly even money.
